Breaking the Silence to End Child Abuse

Child protection week starts this Sunday, 4 September 2011.

“There is a need to raise awareness of child abuse and how to deal with it,” Kevin Andrews said today.

“Child Protection Week promotes breaking the silence about child abuse to help give courage to victims to speak up.

“Many people in Menzies would like to help those affected by child abuse, but as the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse has found, the vast majority of people do not know how to help.”

The theme of Child Protection Week this year is “Play Your Part” to raise awareness about the different ways you can get involved and help.

“There is nothing more important than providing a safe environment for children in Menzies,” said Kevin Andrews.

“We need to work together as a community to protect our children and end child abuse.”
